Ballard Canyon Estate Reserve, 2014
92 Wine Enthusiast - August 2017
92 The Tasting Panel - 2017
This Reserve blend is created from a selection of barrels that represent the bolder style of Syrah. Abundant with aromas of boysenberry, blueberry, and hints of cinnamon, its dense fruit characteristics are complimented by complex flavors of anise, vanilla and dark chocolate.
The grapes for our Ballard Canyon Estate Reserve Syrah release are from the estate vineyards around the winery, located in the stunning Ballard Canyon AVA. Picked at dawn and brought directly to the winery in those early hours, the grapes were de-stemmed, fermented in small 1-ton bins, then punched down by hand numerous times each day to extract dark colors, spicy flavors and smooth tannins from the skins. The new wine was placed into French oak barrels, 67% of which were new.
Optimal Storage Conditions:
Constant temperature, 55-58°f, darkness.
