Santa Catalina Island Vineyard

Santa Catalina Island’s El Rancho Escondido was founded by Alison’s family in 1930, and for decades was a working Arabian horse ranch. After our first date there – some 27 years ago – we began to dream of planting a small vineyard overlooking the ocean in the pastures where horses once grazed. That long-standing dream is now represented in this bottle. Little did we know then that the classic, cool-climate conditions and clay loam soils that exist there would make it a world-class site for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It also features a Zinfandel that originated from a few hardy vines still alive on Catalina’s sister island of Santa Cruz.
